Siaya County
Siaya County stretches from fertile western uplands to the shores of Lake Victoria. Got Ramogi is an important Luo cultural landscape associated with ancestral migration traditions, while the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi presents modern Kenyan political history. Yala Swamp is one of the lake basin’s significant wetlands and supports birds, papyrus habitat and local livelihoods. Fishing villages and islands shape life along the lakeshore, and Siaya town serves as the administrative centre. The county is well suited to travellers interested in Luo heritage, wetland ecology, rural homesteads and quieter Lake Victoria journeys.
