Kericho County
Kericho County occupies cool, rainy highlands west of the Rift Valley and is one of Kenya’s leading tea-growing areas. Vast, carefully patterned tea estates surround Kericho town, and selected properties offer visits explaining cultivation and processing. Chagaik Arboretum provides a peaceful forest and picnic stop, while the nearby Mau Forest complex forms an important water catchment. Fort Ternan is associated with significant fossil discoveries from the Miocene period. The county’s misty mornings, rolling green hills and Kipsigis culture create a distinctive landscape for scenic drives, agricultural visits and journeys between Nakuru, Kisumu and the western highlands.
