Homa Bay County
Homa Bay County curves around the southern shores and islands of Lake Victoria. Ruma National Park protects the Lambwe Valley and Kenya’s remaining population of roan antelope, alongside giraffes, rhinos and rich birdlife. Rusinga Island is associated with important fossil discoveries and the family history of independence leader Tom Mboya. Mfangano Island has rock-art sites and fishing villages reached by boat. Homa Hills rise beside the county capital and provide expansive lake views. The area combines wildlife, archaeology, island journeys and Luo lakeside culture, with fish dishes and sunsets central to many visits.
