Murang'a County
Murang’a County lies in Kenya’s central highlands between the Aberdare Range and the lower Tana basin. Steep green ridges support coffee, tea, bananas and macadamia, with rivers carving deep valleys through the farmland. Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga is an important Kikuyu cultural site associated with community origin traditions. Ndakaini Dam sits amid scenic hills, while the county’s upper edge reaches the forests and waterfalls of the Aberdares. Murang’a town is the administrative centre. Visitors come for cultural heritage, farm experiences, hiking and cool highland scenery within relatively easy reach of Nairobi and Mount Kenya.
