Nyandarua County
Nyandarua County occupies the high plateau west of the Aberdare Range in central Kenya. Aberdare National Park protects moorland, waterfalls, bamboo forest and wildlife including elephants, buffaloes and the rare mountain bongo. Lake Ol Bolossat, Kenya’s largest natural lake outside the major basins, attracts hippos and many waterbirds. The Kinangop Plateau is characterised by broad grasslands, cool weather and productive farms. Thomson’s Falls lies just beyond the county boundary near Nyahururu and is commonly visited on local circuits. Nyandarua offers hiking, birdwatching and expansive highland scenery within a few hours of Nairobi.
